One Crucial Life Hack for Success: Mindset
You have a body to experience life and a crucial part of that body is your brain. The thoughts that pass through your mind will very often mean more than other external factors. Yes, mindset it just as important as everyone says it is. Sometimes we can change our circumstances but sometimes we can’t because they involve things outside our influence. But we can change our thoughts. If your thoughts drive you in a negative direction then your actions will follow.
“I can’t do that, I’m too old.”
“I don’t know how to do that, I’ll never learn.”
“That’s too hard.”
“They would never accept me.”
If you tell yourself these kinds of phrases, guess what? Your brain believes you. But can I share a hack to nudge you in the right direction? If you tell yourself positive things, life-changing things? Your brain will believe that, too!
Don’t get me wrong, it sounds easier than it is. Changing your mindset takes serious work, over & over, until it becomes a habit. It takes mental work, the same way improving your physique takes regular, demanding physical work. You’ll want to quit, you’ll think nothing is changing. But one day you’ll wake up with a different view of yourself. If you’ve found yourself just existing day-to-day, you’ll suddenly start seeing the ‘you’ of the future. You’ll start imagining what you can become, what kind of person you want to be, what kind of experiences you want to have. And you can actually start believing that you can implement plans to become her!
Mental work can feel a little “woo-woo,” as Glennon Doyle sometimes calls it, but it is not to be skipped, just like stretching before & after a workout. It may be invisible work but the effects are palpable and real and crucial to growth.
